Project Notes: WSCo. Lucky Log Cabins

This gift quilt reflects the recipient’s classical tastes in colors, multi-seasonal floral themes and strong lines. We wanted to emphasize the feminine nature of these fabrics, so we selected a swirly, whimsical design with ribbons and butterflies. The flowing quilting pattern adds motion, and contrasts the straight lines of the quilt piecing, allowing your eye to keep moving around the fabric arrangements. The original quilt pattern was adapted by rotating every other quilt block one turn to the right, creating a secondary chevron design. The scale and orientation of the quilting pattern moves along the diagonal lines within the quilt top, and follows the vine-like imagery within the fabrics.
